Whitechapel, Sylosis and 200 Stab Wounds bring modern extreme metal to SWG3 Glasgow on 28 January 2027.
Whitechapel, formed in Knoxville in 2006, built their sound around a three-guitar backbone and Phil Bozeman’s guttural delivery. From early deathcore ferocity to the more nuanced writing of The Valley and Kin, the band now threads dense riffing, weighty breakdowns and colder atmospheres without losing impact. On stage, they switch between tight, technical surges and slower, crushing passages with a clear sense of dynamics.
Sylosis, from Reading and steered by Josh Middleton, blend thrash drive, melodic death metal melodies and a taste for progressive structures. Rapid-fire picking, twin-guitar harmonies and elongated builds shape tracks that move from speed to space while keeping vocals raw and focused. The band’s recent return to full activity sharpened their balance between precision and intensity.
From Cleveland, 200 Stab Wounds tap into the current US death metal wave with mid-tempo stomp, 90s-leaning growls and sharp rhythm turns. After Slave to the Scalpel and the denser Manual Manic Procedures, their set zeroes in on compact riffs, darker tones and a straight-ahead attack tailored for the pit.
