Based in Stockholm, thrown is part of the Swedish wave that blends abrasive hardcore, highly syncopated rhythms and shouted choruses. Formed in the early 2020s by musicians from the local scene, thrown focuses on short-format songs built around heavily tuned riffs, pronounced rhythmic accents and a screamed vocal register that leaves little room for melodic breathing. Their lyrics centre on anxiety, anger and interpersonal tensions. Signed to the German label Arising Empire, thrown released several digital singles before issuing the 2022 EP “Extended Pain,” which established a direct metalcore aesthetic informed by hardcore influences and touches of modern nu metal. Since then, thrown has continued releasing material and touring, moving between clubs and mid-sized venues across Scandinavia and continental Europe, often appearing on metalcore bills with their generation. Both live and in the studio, the band favors a dense, upfront sound anchored by a heavy rhythm section, immediate song structures and a collective energy designed for physical impact.
