Revocation

Formed in Boston in the early 2000s by Dave Davidson, Phil Dubois-Coyne and Anthony Buda — initially under the name Cryptic Warning and adopting Revocation in 2006 — the American band developed an extreme metal style blending technical death metal, thrash metal and progressive touches. Revocation’s sound centers on Davidson’s guitar work and songwriting, featuring songs built on fast, dissonant riffs, frequent tempo and rhythm changes, intricate solos and vocals ranging from growls to a harsher singing voice. After their self-produced debut Empire of the Obscene (2008), Revocation released Existence Is Futile (2009), Chaos of Forms (2011) and Revocation (2013), before continuing on Metal Blade with Deathless (2014), Great Is Our Sin (2016), The Outer Ones (2018), Netherheaven (2022) and New Gods, New Masters (2025). Having shifted between trio line-ups and larger formations over time, Revocation has toured North American and European stages alongside bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel and Suffocation. The band currently consists of Dave Davidson, Ash Pearson, Harry Lannon and Alex Weber.
