Sylosis

Formed in the early 2000s in Reading, England, Sylosis established itself within the British metal scene with a blend of thrash metal, melodic death metal and progressive elements. Centered around guitarist and vocalist Josh Middleton, the band quickly honed a dense songwriting style built on rapid-fire riffs, intricate guitar harmonies and extended song structures. Early recordings led to a debut album, "Conclusion of an Age" in 2008, followed by "Edge of the Earth" in 2011 and "Monolith" in 2012, releases that cemented Sylosis within the Nuclear Blast roster and the new generation of modern thrash bands. "Dormant Heart" (2015), "Cycle of Suffering" (2020) and "A Sign of Things to Come" (2023) carried this approach forward, weaving in darker shades and metalcore-leaning influences while retaining a technically minded thrash foundation. After a hiatus beginning in 2016—due in part to Josh Middleton’s involvement with Architects—Sylosis resumed touring and releasing new material toward the end of the 2010s, remaining active across UK and European stages. Sylosis’s music is marked by an alternation of high-speed passages, atmospheric builds and aggressive vocals, with particular attention paid to guitar arrangements.
