Ycare
Born in Dakar in 1983, Assane Attyé, known by his stage name Ycare, belongs to the French-language pop scene with roots between West Africa and Paris. He came to public attention in 2008 during the sixth season of the TV show Nouvelle Star and quickly moved toward a career as a singer-songwriter, shaping a repertoire dominated by pop melodies, acoustic guitars and intimate French lyrics. His debut album Au bord du monde was released in 2009, followed by Lumière noire in 2011, which introduced a darker, more electric tone, and La Somme de tout ça in 2014, where he explored pop-rock and ballad formats more deeply. With Adieu je t’aime (2018) he continued to focus on emotional relationships and personal narratives, before issuing Des millions d’années in 2022, marked by fuller production and occasional duets. In addition to his own records, Ycare writes and composes for other artists in the francophone song tradition, sustaining regular studio work and collaborations. On stage he adapts his songs to formats ranging from solo performance to electric ensembles, favouring a direct delivery and a frontal engagement with the text, which places his work at the crossroads of pop, modern chanson and light folk.
