Grand Corps Malade
Under the name Grand Corps Malade, slammer and singer-songwriter Fabien Marsaud, born in 1977 in the Paris region and marked by an accident in 1997 that left him partially disabled, has developed a body of work focused on spoken language and storytelling. From Saint-Denis, Grand Corps Malade gained attention on the Paris slam scene in the early 2000s, before releasing the 2006 album "Midi 20", which established a style combining social chronicle, subtle humour and intimate narratives. He then released "Enfant de la ville" (2008), "3ème temps" (2010) and "Funambule" (2013), where slam moved closer to French chanson through more melodic arrangements. The collective project "Il nous restera ça" (2015) highlighted texts written around a single phrase, while "Plan B" (2018) confirmed the balance between spoken poetry, hip-hop influences and pop-oriented formats. With "Mesdames" (2020) he dedicated a record to female voices featured on his tracks, then took part in the joint project "Éphémère" (2021) with Ben Mazué and Gaël Faye. Alongside his albums, he wrote and co-directed the films "Patients" (2017) and "La Vie scolaire" (2019), extending his cinematic interest in everyday stories, suburbia and individual trajectories. In 2023, the album "Reflets" continued this writing work rooted in autobiography and social observation.
