Claudio Capéo

Born in 1985 in Cernay, Alsace, to a family of Italian origin, Claudio Capéo developed a taste for the stage early on—first in metal bands, then with a more acoustic project focused on the accordion and chanson. Now firmly established in the French-language pop and variété landscape, he relies on a gritty vocal timbre, straightforward melodies, and a strong connection to the tradition of popular song. After years of performing in bars, small venues, and festivals, his participation in the fifth season of The Voice in 2016 gave his career a major boost and led to the release of the album “Claudio Capéo” that same year. The record cemented the blend of French chanson, pop, and folk touches that defines his songwriting, often centered on life stories, exile, family, and regional roots. The albums “Tant que rien ne m’arrête” (2018) and “Penso a te” (2020)—devoted to covers and nods to Italian culture—broadened this repertoire by playing with bilingualism and Mediterranean shades. With “Rose des vents” in 2023, Capéo continues this exploration of accordion-led chanson, ranging from ballads to more up-tempo tracks, supported by steady live activity in France and across the Francophone world.
