Gauvain Sers
Gauvain Sers is a French singer-songwriter born in 1989 in Limoges and raised in La Souterraine, an avowed heir to the great tradition of lyric-driven chanson. Spotted opening for Renaud, he made his mark with his debut album Pourvu in 2017 — a record carried by everyday stories full of tender humor and melancholy — which immediately placed him among the most popular new voices. In 2019 he confirmed his status with Les oubliés, a second album largely inspired by rural France, by school closures and by the discreet lives he gives voice to, a project he extended with an acoustic tour through small, so-called forgotten towns. Ta place dans ce monde, released in 2021, deepens this blend of social chronicles and intimate confidences, between portraits of close relations, generational doubts and questions about the future, and firmly establishes Gauvain Sers as an engaged songwriter whose records tell both his personal trajectory and that of a country in transition.
