Turnstile

Formed in 2010 within Baltimore’s hardcore scene in Maryland, Turnstile initially made its mark with a sound rooted in hardcore punk and melodic hardcore, before gradually expanding its music toward more flexible forms—between alternative rock, melodic choruses, and grooves that sometimes borrow from funk or pop. Centered on Brendan Yates, Franz Lyons and Daniel Fang, Turnstile first released the EPs Pressure to Succeed (2011) and Step 2 Rhythm (2013), then their debut album Nonstop Feeling in 2015, which set the foundations for their tense and highly mobile songwriting. With Time & Space (2018) the band broadened its palette further without abandoning hardcore’s energy, a progression continued on Glow On (2021), an album where Turnstile mixes punk tension, more spacious melodies and occasional collaborations, notably with Blood Orange. The band’s trajectory also includes side projects such as Share a View with Mall Grab (2020) and New Heart Designs with BadBadNotGood (2023). Equally at home on hardcore circuits and major rock tours, Turnstile has shared the bill with artists and bands from different scenes, from New Found Glory to My Chemical Romance and Blink-182. In 2025 Turnstile released Never Enough, with a lineup now augmented by Meg Mills.
