Mannequin Pussy

Rooted in Philadelphia’s independent punk scene, Mannequin Pussy has developed since the early 2010s a sound that combines abrasive punk rock, bursts of hardcore and more melodic passages close to indie rock. Formed around guitarist and singer Marisa “Missy” Dabice, the band expanded from a tight initial core to a steadier lineup including Colins “Bear” Regisford on bass and vocals and Kaleen Reading on drums, which solidified the group’s collective energy on record and on stage. The debut album GP (2014) established a direct, lo‑fi aesthetic; in 2016 Romantic followed, stretching the band’s formats between explosive tracks and slower, introspective songs. With Patience (2019) Mannequin Pussy emphasized contrasts between rough riffs, near‑pop passages and more atmospheric moments, while integrating more closely into the network of U.S. independent labels, notably via a deal with Epitaph. The 2024 album I Got Heaven continues this trajectory, adding more nuance to arrangements and vocal work while retaining the brevity of many tracks and a taste for tempo shifts. Through tours in clubs and mid‑size venues, Mannequin Pussy has become a regular live presence on the North American punk and indie‑rock circuit.
