Title Fight
Born in the early 2000s in the Kingston, Pennsylvania area, Title Fight first emerged from the local hardcore scene before developing a broader identity spanning melodic punk, emo, and alternative rock. Formed around Jamie Rhoden, Ned Russin, Ben Russin, and Shane Moran, the band quickly moved through the DIY circuits of North America and later Europe, built on an energetic hardcore foundation and pronounced melodic lines. After several EPs, an initial milestone came with the 2009 compilation The Last Thing You Forget, which gathers Title Fight’s early recordings and crystallizes a sound that combines punk intensity with a sharp sense of hooks. The quartet followed with Shed in 2011 and Floral Green in 2012, where the songwriting darkened and incorporated more emo and post-hardcore elements while remaining rooted in a direct format. The 2013 EP Spring Songs preceded Hyperview in 2015, an album that marked a turn toward shoegaze and dream-pop textures, with slower tempos and an increased focus on atmosphere. Less active onstage and in the studio from the latter half of the 2010s onward, Title Fight has generally been regarded as on hiatus since 2018, while remaining a regular reference point in conversations about the evolution of melodic hardcore toward more hybrid forms.
