Movements

Formed in 2015 in Rancho Santa Margarita, in Orange County, California, Movements brings together Patrick Miranda, Austin Cressey, Spencer York and, since 2016, Ira George. The band sits at a crossroads between post-hardcore, emo revival, alternative rock and soft grunge, with a tense yet melodic sound, where guitars remain airy, rhythms measured and the vocals alternate between clear lines and phrases close to spoken word. After a few self-produced early tracks, Movements released the Outgrown Things EP in 2016, then rapidly developed its presence on the American alternative scene through touring and festivals, notably the Warped Tour. The debut album, Feel Something, came out in 2017, followed by No Good Left to Give in 2020, then RUCKUS! in 2023. Over the course of these records, Movements has evolved its writing from a register very rooted in emo and post-hardcore to a format more open to alternative rock, without abandoning an introspective approach. Will Yip's production on several of the band's releases accompanies this continuity. In its lyrics, Movements regularly addresses anxiety, depression, affective and familial relationships, themes that occupy a central place in the band's identity.
