Hayley Williams

Born in 1988 in Meridian, Mississippi, and having settled at a young age in Franklin, Tennessee, Hayley Williams first came to prominence in the mid-2000s as the singer and songwriter for the alternative rock band Paramore, active on the international emo, pop-punk, and pop-rock scenes. Alongside this band work, Williams gradually developed a more introspective writing style that took shape in a solo project launched in the late 2010s. In 2020, she released the Petals for Armor series, straddling alternative pop, indie rock, and understated electronic textures, with voice and lyrics at the forefront, followed in 2021 by Flowers for Vases / Descansos, a more stripped-back album leaning toward folk and indie pop. While remaining closely tied to Paramore, Williams has taken on numerous one-off collaborations—particularly in the hip-hop and electropop spheres with artists such as B.o.B and Zedd—broadening her repertoire toward a more pop- and electronic-leaning register. Williams’s solo projects focus on concise song forms, favoring nuanced melodic arrangements and a highly personal approach to the themes she explores.
