Basement

Since the late 2000s, Basement have been crafting a rock sound tinged with emo and grunge, defined by a constant tension between clear melodies, heavy guitars and an energy close to melodic hardcore. Built around Andrew Fisher, Alex Henery and James Fisher with a changing line‑up, the band emerged with the EP “Songs About the Weather” in 2010 and consolidated their direction with “I Wish I Could Stay Here” in 2011, released on the independent label Run For Cover. The album “Colourmeinkindness” (2012) placed them in a more contrasting register, playing with dynamics and a very frontal vocal style, before a several‑year hiatus. Returning in 2014 with the EP “Further Sky”, Basement gradually broadened their scope toward a more open alternative rock while retaining songwriting focused on emotional tensions and tempo shifts. The record “Promise Everything” (2016), reissued in 2017 after signing to Fueled By Ramen, initiated a period of greater visibility and regular touring across the UK, Europe, North America and Australia. With “Beside Myself” (2018), Basement continued the move toward more melodic, structured compositions while remaining rooted in a live‑band aesthetic closely tied to the independent circuits and small venues where they were forged.
