Fiddlehead
Born out of Boston’s hardcore scene in the mid-2010s, Fiddlehead brings together members from bands such as Have Heart and Basement around vocalist Patrick Flynn and drummer Shawn Costa. The band crafts a blend of post-hardcore, melodic punk and emo, featuring taut guitars, direct tempos and vocals that shift between abrasive intensity and clearer lines. After gaining notice on the New England DIY circuit, Fiddlehead released the EP “Out of the Bloom” in 2014, which established songwriting focused on grief, family and memory. Their debut album, “Springtime and Blind” (2018), deepened this approach by linking hardcore energy with more melodic structures, followed by “Between the Richness” in 2021 and “Death Is Nothing to Us” in 2023, all released on Run For Cover Records. Active on numerous independent stages across North America and Europe, Fiddlehead continues the legacy of Boston hardcore punk while steering it toward more melodic and introspective forms.
