Militarie Gun
Formed in Los Angeles in 2020 around singer and songwriter Ian Shelton, already active on the American hardcore scene, Militarie Gun crafts taut rock that blends punk energy, post-hardcore heritage, and a strong melodic sensibility. The band—featuring Nick Cogan, William Acuña, Max Epstein, and Vince Nguyen—emerged during the lockdowns, when Shelton sought a more open-ended extension of his work with Regional Justice Center. From the EP My Life Is Over (2020) onward, Militarie Gun established a template of short songs, rough-hewn guitars, and clear vocals, a path carried forward with the EPs All Roads Lead to the Gun and All Roads Lead to the Gun II released in 2021, then compiled in an expanded edition in 2022. Straddling fast punk, abrasive indie rock, and accessible hooks, Militarie Gun’s sound sits both within the American hardcore tradition and a more pop-minded approach to songwriting. A collaboration with Dazy on the Pressure Cooker EP in 2022 further emphasized the melodic side, ahead of the release of their debut album Life Under the Gun in 2023 on Loma Vista Recordings. Since then, Militarie Gun has toured clubs, independent venues, and festivals, moving between punk and alternative rock circuits and broader audiences, while pursuing direct songwriting centered on vocal tension and the immediacy of riffs.
