Interpol
Interpol is a New York rock band formed in the late 1990s by Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler and Sam Fogarino. Rooted in the post-punk revival scene, the trio quickly established themselves as one of the pillars of the 2000s rock resurgence alongside The Strokes and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Their debut album, Turn On the Bright Lights, was swiftly regarded as a modern classic, driven by tracks such as 'PDA', 'Obstacle 1' and 'NYC', which blend sharp guitars, hypnotic bass and urban melancholy. Their style, instantly recognizable, marries cool elegance, emotional tension and rhythmic precision, drawing on influences like Joy Division and The Chameleons. Subsequent albums — Antics, Our Love to Admire, El Pintor and The Other Side of Make-Believe — confirmed their ability to evolve their sound without betraying their identity. Interpol has managed to preserve an intact aura, balancing mystery and intensity, and continues to embody the nocturnal, introspective side of contemporary New York rock.
