Sam Fender

Born in North Shields, in the northeast of England, Sam Fender established himself at the end of the 2010s with songs that blend British rock, indie rock, heartland rock and pop rock, in writing anchored in his social environment. After early beginnings on the local scene and several independent singles in 2017, including Play God, Sam Fender quickly drew attention in the United Kingdom, then released the Dead Boys EP in 2018. His debut album, Hypersonic Missiles, came out in 2019, followed by Seventeen Going Under in 2021 and People Watching in 2025. His repertoire rests on bright, nervy guitars, expansive choruses, a often taut rhythm section and regular use of the saxophone, with a high-placed vocal that retains his North East accent. Sam Fender develops lyrics centered on youth, precarity, family relationships, mental health, or the political and social fractures of contemporary England. Over the tours, he moves from small venues to large UK and international stages, with festival appearances such as Glastonbury, Lollapalooza or Coachella. Among Sam Fender's notable collaborations are a duet with Noah Kahan on Homesick in 2024 and a new version of Rein Me In with Olivia Dean in 2025.
