Kings Of Leon
Formed in Nashville, Tennessee around the turn of the 2000s, Kings Of Leon brings together brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill with their cousin Matthew Followill, playing a rock rooted in their Southern origins and a childhood spent between Oklahoma and the U.S. South. The band first made its mark on the British scene with a blend of alternative rock, garage rock and Southern rock, driven by Caleb Followill’s raspy voice and songwriting focused on youth, family and everyday tensions. After the EP Holy Roller Novocaine, Kings Of Leon released Youth & Young Manhood (2003) and Aha Shake Heartbreak (2004), which established a nervous, raw sound, before moving toward more ambitious structures with Because of the Times (2007). Only by the Night (2008) and Come Around Sundown (2010) signaled a shift toward broader, more melodic rock suited to the large stages the band was playing in the U.S. and Europe. Mechanical Bull (2013) and WALLS (2016) continued to balance garage energy with more atmospheric formats, while When You See Yourself (2021) explored subtler, introspective textures. With Can We Please Have Fun (2024), Kings Of Leon return to a more direct approach, reaffirming a balance between American rock heritage, indie influences and songwriting centered on group dynamics.
