ROLE MODEL

ROLE MODEL is the project of Tucker Pillsbury, who was born in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and later based in Los Angeles. He began in rap before shifting, around 2017, toward a more intimate, sung songwriting style. That year ROLE MODEL independently released the EP Arizona in the Summer, an early milestone that spread his name online and led to a signing with Interscope in 2018. His music sits within indie pop with a bedroom-pop grain, centered on supple melodies, spare arrangements and candid lyrics about relationships, loneliness and mental health. He refined that formula with the EPs Oh, How Perfect (2019) and Our Little Angel (2020), and appeared on Julia Michaels' “Fucked Up, Kinda.” In 2022 he issued his debut album Rx, where his alternative pop remains confessional while gaining in scope. With Kansas Anymore (2024), ROLE MODEL moved his writing toward a more acoustic pop shaded by folk and subtle country touches. That evolution has been apparent on stage as well, through headlining tours and opening slots for Gracie Abrams, in a broader indie-pop register than his originally strictly bedroom-pop beginnings.
