Gui Boratto

Born in São Paulo in 1974, Gui Boratto first developed a career as a composer for advertising before gradually settling into electronic music around the turn of the 2000s. A Brazilian producer, DJ and musician, he builds a sound at the crossroads of microhouse, melodic techno, tech house and an electronica with pop contours, with tracks often driven by clear synth lines, steady rhythms and a strongly melodic sensibility. After projects in Brazil such as Sect and Crossover, Boratto begins his solo trajectory with several maxis in the mid-2000s, then makes a mark at the German label Kompakt with Chromophobia in 2007, followed by Take My Breath Away in 2009, III in 2011, Abaporu in 2014 and Pentagram in 2018. His productions alternate between club formats, electronic songs and remixes, in a register where minimalist precision remains linked to an emotional writing without overload. Boratto has also collaborated with artists such as Luciana Villanova, featured on several tracks, and has signed remixes for names coming from both pop and the electronic scenes. Active on international stages since the 2000s, Gui Boratto circulates a sober, melodic aesthetic that is immediately identifiable.
