Rodriguez Jr.

Under the name Rodriguez Jr., Olivier Mateu has developed in France a career focused on melodic electronic music where deep house, techno and electro-pop influences intersect. Initially active as part of the Montpellier duo The Youngsters, signed to F Communications, he became known in the 2000s for a more directly techno aesthetic before evolving his writing toward warmer tracks built around supple basslines, highly melodic synth motifs and a strong sense of harmony. As a solo artist, Rodriguez Jr. has released tracks on several European labels, including Systematic, Boxer, Leena and notably Mobilee, with which his name remains closely associated. His first album, Bittersweet, was released in 2011 and established the basis for a broader format between club music, electronic songcraft and contemplative atmospheres. Since then Rodriguez Jr. has maintained a steady practice in the studio and on stage, both in DJ sets and live performances, in contexts ranging from clubs to festivals, with an approach that preserves techno's rhythmic efficiency while leaving significant space for texture and emotion.
