Kölsch

Danish producer and DJ born in 1977 in Copenhagen, Rune Reilly Kölsch first drew attention in the early 2000s under the aliases Rune and later Rune RK, notably with the 2003 house track “Calabria,” before progressively refocusing his work on techno under the name Kölsch. Situated at the crossroads of melodic techno, house and minimal, he develops an approach based on clear harmonic progressions, extended build‑ups and meticulous work on textures, often tinged with trance influences and repetitive motifs. Closely associated with the German label Kompakt, he released a series of conceptual albums including “1977” (2013), “1983” (2015), “1989” (2017) and “Now Here No Where” (2020), which expand his dancefloor productions into a more narrative format. His EPs and remixes have circulated on the European scene since the 2010s and regularly bring him to clubs and international festivals, where he translates the expansive, melodic techno aesthetic developed in the studio into his DJ sets.
