Archspire

Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, the Canadian band Archspire operates within technical death metal, pushing tempos, rhythmic precision, and arrangement density to particularly elevated levels. Formed in the late 2000s, the quintet comprises vocalist Oli Peters, guitarists Dean Lamb and Tobi Morelli, bassist Jared Smith, and drummer Spencer Prewett, united by a collective approach focused on virtuosity and ensemble cohesion. Archspire’s debut album, All Shall Align (2011), laid the groundwork for a style defined by highly detailed riffs, an extremely segmented drumming approach, and an almost percussive vocal delivery. With The Lucid Collective (2014) and Relentless Mutation (2017), released on Season of Mist, the band refined a more compact writing style, playing with contrasts between very rapid passages and more atmospheric sequences. Bleed the Future (2021), recorded again with producer Dave Otero, extends this approach by enhancing the clarity of the compositions without reducing their complexity. Active across North American and European stages, Archspire brings this aesthetic—centered on technical command and collective synchronization—to the live setting, making them a well‑recognized presence in the contemporary death metal landscape.
