Rivers of Nihil

Formed in Reading, Pennsylvania, Rivers of Nihil has made its mark on the American death metal scene with a blend of technical death metal and progressive metal characterized by a strong atmospheric dimension. Built around guitarist Brody Uttley and bassist/vocalist Adam Biggs, the band drew attention in the early 2010s before releasing The Conscious Seed of Light in 2013, its first concept album on Metal Blade Records. Rivers of Nihil continued this thematic approach with Monarchy in 2015 and Where Owls Know My Name in 2018, incorporating more melodic textures, contemplative passages, and unexpected instruments within a consistently extreme framework. With The Work in 2021, Rivers of Nihil extended this cycle of season‑themed albums and refined a palette where precise riffs, powerful death vocals, progressive influences, and more open atmospheres alternate. Regularly touring the United States and Europe, the band has distinguished itself above all on stage across specialized metal circuits.
