Gaerea

Gaerea is a band from Porto that has, in a few years, established itself as one of the most prominent faces of contemporary extreme metal. Founded in 2016, the collective cultivates anonymity by appearing masked, an aesthetic that mirrors the suffocating and introspective atmosphere of their music. With an initial EP and the albums Unsettling Whispers and Limbo, Gaerea developed a modern, dense and emotional black metal in which brutality sits alongside more atmospheric passages and a very cinematic darkness. Their third album, Mirage, confirms this identity by pushing intensity and rhythmic complexity further while remaining deeply melodic. Their carefully crafted visual universe, oppressive live performances and sense of musical storytelling quickly set them apart in a saturated underground, making them a reference for the new wave of black metal. On tour, Gaerea delivers numerous high‑intensity shows, reinforcing their reputation as a distinctive band both for the coherence of their concept and the emotional depth of their compositions.
