Shadow of Intent

Born in the Hartford, Connecticut metal scene, Shadow of Intent began as a studio project founded in 2013 by vocalist Ben Duerr and guitarist Chris Wiseman, with lyrics inspired by the Halo video game universe. The band plays symphonic deathcore that combines fast death metal riffs, prominent orchestral arrangements and passages edging into black metal, while leaving room for more melodic sections and occasional clean singing. After the first EP, Inferi Sententia (2014), Shadow of Intent released the albums Primordial (2016) and Reclaimer (2017), which consolidated their presence in North American extreme metal and enabled the transition from an online project to a live-focused lineup. With Melancholy (2019) the themes broadened toward more introspective and symbolic subjects, while Elegy (2022) emphasized the dark, cinematic dimension of the compositions. Centered on Ben Duerr, Chris Wiseman and a rhythm section stabilized through touring, Shadow of Intent has since played numerous concerts across North America and Europe, fitting into international deathcore and extreme metal circuits while refining a style in which sonic density remains central.
