Info

On 20 June 2026 at Malahide Castle in Malahide, Ireland, Kodaline headline a homecoming show that plays to their strengths: clear, melodic pop rock built around piano lines, ringing guitars and lyrics that look inward. Formed in Swords by Steve Garrigan, Mark Prendergast, Vinny May Jr. and Jason Boland, the band moved from their early 21 Demands days to a more expansive, accessible sound across In a Perfect World, Coming Up for Air, Politics of Living and One Day at a Time. Expect a set that balances intimate ballads and broader, atmospheric rock, with songs that circle around relationships, absence and memory.

Sharing the bill, The Academic bring their tight indie rock from Mullingar. Craig Fitzgerald, Dean Gavin and brothers Matthew and Stephen Murtagh shape punchy, guitar-led tracks that sit somewhere between sharp modern hooks and a touch of classic new wave spirit. Their debut Tales From The Backseat introduced the band in 2018, while 2023’s Sitting Pretty pushed the writing further without losing immediacy. Live, they lean on crisp rhythms, unpretentious melodies and the kind of chorus that lands quickly. Two Irish bands, two shades of guitar pop, one open-air date at Malahide Castle.
