Two Door Cinema Club

Formed in 2007 between Bangor and Donaghadee in Northern Ireland, Two Door Cinema Club is built around Alex Trimble, Sam Halliday and Kevin Baird, a trio that develops indie rock with pop-leaning accents, nourished by the post‑punk revival and electronic textures. Initially spotted via Myspace and later by the French label Kitsuné, Two Door Cinema Club made its name on British and European stages before releasing its debut album Tourist History in 2010, marked by melodic guitars, brisk rhythms and a direct melodic sense. The band refined its songwriting on Beacon in 2012, recorded with producer Jacknife Lee, opening more space for synthesizers and a more pop-oriented format. With Gameshow in 2016 and False Alarm in 2019, Two Door Cinema Club embraced stronger influences from disco, new wave and electronic pop while retaining short, stage‑friendly song structures. The album Keep On Smiling, released in 2022, continues this aesthetic by alternating between danceable tracks and more subdued songs, confirming Two Door Cinema Club’s place in a hybrid register between independent rock and synth‑based pop geared toward live performance.
