The Fratellis

Formed in Glasgow in 2005, The Fratellis bring together three Scottish musicians who perform under pseudonyms: Jon Fratelli, Baz Fratelli and Mince Fratelli. The trio made its mark in the mid-2000s with direct indie rock drawing on garage rock, power pop and alternative rock, driven by edgy guitars, very melodic choruses and a strong sense of rhythm inherited from 1960s and 1970s British rock. The Fratellis quickly attracted attention with the EP The Fratellis EP and then the album Costello Music in 2006, which firmly established songs such as 'Chelsea Dagger' and 'Whistle for the Choir' in their repertoire. After Here We Stand in 2008 and an intense period of touring on British stages and at festivals including Glastonbury and T in the Park, the band went on hiatus in 2009. That break led to several side projects, notably Codeine Velvet Club around Jon Fratelli, before The Fratellis returned in 2012. The band then resumed its course with We Need Medicine (2013), Eyes Wide, Tongue Tied (2015), In Your Own Sweet Time (2018) and Half Drunk Under a Full Moon (2021) — records that broaden their formula toward a more soulful, sometimes orchestral rock, without abandoning the melodic efficiency that shapes The Fratellis' identity.
