Renaud
Renaud, born in 1952 in Paris, is one of the most emblematic voices of French song, blending argot, tender revolt and the poetry of everyday life. He emerged at the end of the 1970s with his modern Gavroche persona and established himself through lively, popular writing that spans generations. Key albums include Marche à l’ombre (1980), Morgane de toi (1983) with the essential hit Mistral gagnant, and Boucan d’enfer (2002), marked by the success of Manhattan-Kaboul with Axelle Red. Renaud alternates between politically engaged songs, nostalgic ballads and social portraits where suburbs, bruised friendships and humanist anger intersect. After several periods away, his return in 2016 with the album Renaud confirmed the public’s attachment to this unique, fragile and fraternal pen. Still active, he remains a major figure whose sensitivity and cheeky irreverence continue to inspire the Francophone scene.
