Deadmau5

Under the name deadmau5, Canadian producer Joel Thomas Zimmerman, born in Niagara Falls, Ontario in 1981, established himself from the mid-2000s on the international electronic scene. Later based in Toronto, deadmau5 developed a world centered on progressive house and electro house, featuring long structures, a strong melodic focus and influences from techno and trance. After self-produced beginnings, the albums Random Album Title (2008) and For Lack of a Better Name (2009) put him at the heart of the revival of North American club music. He simultaneously founded the mau5trap label, which became the home for his releases and some collaborations, notably with Kaskade and Rob Swire. The albums 4×4=12 (2010), Album Title Goes Here (2012) and While(1<2) (2014) continued this approach of a sound that is both massive and detailed, widely showcased on major festival stages in Europe and North America, where deadmau5 also developed his visual aesthetic around the famous mouse-shaped helmet.
