Nero

Trained in London by producers Daniel Stephens and Joseph Ray, regularly joined by vocalist Alana Watson, Nero has since the mid-2000s developed an electronic sound sitting between dubstep, drum and bass, electro house and dark synthpop. The project began with bass music-oriented productions and releases on the British underground scene, before gaining visibility at the end of the 2000s thanks to several remixes and singles that established a more melodic writing, driven by massive synth layers, heavy rhythms and a cinematographic aesthetic. Nero released its first album, Welcome Reality, in 2011, with tracks like 'Me & You', 'Guilt' and 'Promises', which mark a crossover between club culture, pop choruses and electronic tension. The trio later extended this approach with Between II Worlds in 2015, where the sound opened more to house, dark disco and a smoother production without abandoning the frontal bass. In its career Nero has also worked on remixes for other artists and signed production collaborations, notably with Example and Muse, while circulating in electronic festivals as well as on more cross-disciplinary stages related to pop and contemporary music.
