Paul Oakenfold

Born in Greenhithe, Kent, in 1963, Paul Oakenfold first operated within London’s club scene before helping, in the late 1980s, to bring to Britain a house culture nourished by Ibiza, the Balearic beat and acid house. As a DJ, producer and remixer, Oakenfold later steered his work toward melodic electronic music where trance, progressive house and breakbeat intersect, featuring long structures, synthetic soundscapes and arrangements conceived for both the club and attentive listening. The launch of the Perfecto label in 1989 accompanied this trajectory and allowed him to expand his activities while producing numerous remixes for pop and rock artists, including U2, Madonna, Massive Attack and New Order. Under his own name Paul Oakenfold has released, among others, Another World (2000), Bunkka (2002), A Lively Mind (2006), Fluoro (2012) and Garden of Eden (2017). His career spans the British scenes, Ibiza, major electronic festivals and the rise of mix compilations that marked the 1990s and 2000s.
