Skrillex

Under the name Skrillex, Sonny John Moore, born in Los Angeles, first gained attention in the mid-2000s as the singer of the post-hardcore band From First to Last, before launching a solo career focused on electronic music. From 2010, Skrillex established himself on the American bass music scene with productions that blended dubstep, electro house, breakbeats, trap influences and pop structures, characterized by staccato rhythms, heavily chopped basslines and detailed work on vocal textures. The EPs My Name Is Skrillex and Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites were released in 2010, followed by More Monsters and Sprites in 2011 and Bangarang the same year, and the album Recess in 2014. Skrillex also developed several collaborative projects—most notably Dog Blood with Boys Noize and Jack Ü with Diplo—while producing for artists in pop, hip-hop and R&B. Active both within EDM circuits and in more cross‑genre contexts, he moved his songwriting toward more open formats, a direction continued on the albums Quest for Fire and Don’t Get Too Close, both released in 2023.
