Bad Omens

Formed in 2015 in Richmond, Virginia (USA), Bad Omens is a metalcore project built around vocalist Noah Sebastian, guitarist and producer Joakim “Jolly” Karlsson, bassist Nicholas Ruffilo, and drummer Nick Folio. Signed to Sumerian Records, the band initially leaned into a melodic strain of metalcore, with a marked taste for sung choruses and sharp contrasts between aggressive sections and more atmospheric passages. The debut album, Bad Omens (2016), established this foundation with tight riffs, controlled screams, and clean vocals, while Finding God Before God Finds Me (2019) broadened the palette toward more accessible metal-leaning rock, featuring crafted song structures and a strong focus on vocal ambience. With The Death of Peace of Mind (2022), Bad Omens intensified the use of electronic elements, dark-pop-tinged textures, and almost industrial atmospheres without abandoning contemporary metal tropes, cementing an aesthetic that straddles metalcore, alternative metal, and modern rock. Active across North American and European stages alongside peers of the same generation, Bad Omens deliver live shows centered on rhythmic drive and the constant tension between heaviness and melody.
