I Prevail

Formed in 2013 in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, I Prevail belongs to the American metalcore and post-hardcore movement, blending heavy guitars, screamed vocals, and melodic choruses akin to alternative rock. The band first gained attention online with a cover of Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space,” which paved the way for a debut EP, “Heart vs. Mind,” in 2014, where I Prevail laid the groundwork for a sound built around the interplay between clean and harsh vocals. Their first full-length album, “Lifelines,” arrived in 2016 and marked I Prevail’s entry onto North American and then European touring circuits, from mid-sized venues to rock and metal festivals. With “Trauma” in 2019, followed the same year by the live and reworked release “Post Traumatic,” the band leaned further into electronic elements, more atmospheric textures, and structures reminiscent of contemporary pop while retaining a metalcore foundation. “True Power,” released in 2022, continues this progression, striking a sharper balance between aggressive passages, nu metal influences, and highly melodic sections. I Prevail’s lyrics address mental health, personal relationships, and social pressure in a direct manner, resonating with audiences from the 2010s rock and metal scenes.
