On February 11, 2027, Dexter and The Moonrocks bring their “Friends That I Don’t Like” Canadian Tour to Midway Music Hall in Edmonton. The Texas quartet has been shaping its own hybrid since 2021: alt rock and indie hooks, a country-rock twang, and a grunge backbone that keeps everything gritty and tight. Expect big, saturated guitars, straightforward melodies, and that 90s-to-00s rock tension, moving between punchy choruses and more introspective turns. With releases like Western Space Grunge, Happy to Be Here and Donkey Flats, they’ve tightened the formula into songs that hit fast, then linger.
Also on the bill, Los Angeles quartet Return to Dust leans into a heavier lane where grunge meets hard rock and alternative metal. Their sound is built on thick riffs, weighty rhythms, and vocal lines that nod to the 90s legacy without feeling like a museum piece. After the Black Road EP, their self-titled debut and the Speak Like the Dead EP, they land in Edmonton with a set that balances melodic drive and darker, more direct edges.
