The Red Clay Strays

Formed in Mobile, Alabama, in 2016, The Red Clay Strays began with a repertoire of covers before shifting to original songwriting centered on Brandon Coleman, Andrew Bishop and Drew Nix; they were later joined by John Hall and Zach Rishel, and in 2024 by keyboardist Sevans Henderson. The Red Clay Strays’ sound blends country, country rock, Delta blues and gospel, rooted in the American South with taut guitars, passionate vocals and soul-tinged accents. After touring small venues across the southeastern U.S., they released the singles “Good Godly Woman” in 2019 and “No Way to Know” and “Will the Lord Remember Me” in 2020, before issuing their debut album Moment of Truth in 2022. The track “Wondering Why” from that album gained wide visibility in 2023 thanks to viral online circulation and a notable live session. That period coincided with an expanding audience, festival appearances such as Lollapalooza and CMA Fest, a deal with Thirty Tigers and a move to RCA in 2024. In the same year they released Made by These Moments, produced by Dave Cobb, confirming a songwriting approach where gospel fervor, Southern rock and country balladry intersect.
