Koe Wetzel

Born in Pittsburg, Texas, in 1992, Koe Wetzel is part of the Texas country movement, blending alternative rock and grunge influences. After regional beginnings with his band, then billed as Koe Wetzel & the Konvicts, he made a name locally with a sound defined by distorted guitars and a range spanning country, Southern rock and electric ballads. The independent album Out on Parole (2015) laid the foundations of this world, followed by Noise Complaint (2016), where Wetzel refined a style driven by direct lyrics often rooted in everyday Texan life, romantic relationships and a kind of chronicle of student and small-town life. With Harold Saul High (2019) he expanded that vein by strengthening the rock imprint, before signing to a major label for Sellout (2020), which pushed his country songwriting further against alternative rock conventions. Hell Paso (2022) advances this direction toward a heavier sound, still centered on Wetzel’s raspy voice and on songwriting that favors personal stories and ordinary situations, consolidating his place in the Texas country-rock scene while reaching audiences beyond that regional base.
