Dexter and The Moonrocks

Born in the rural Throckmorton County, Texas, Dexter and The Moonrocks took shape in 2021 around James Tuffs, Ryan Anderson, Ty Anderson and Ryan Fox. The quartet develops a cross between alternative rock, indie rock, country rock and grunge, which its members summarize with the phrase 'western space grunge': heavy guitars, direct melodies, and songwriting marked by both rural America and the codes of rock from the 1990s and 2000s. After an early path away from the major circuits, the band drew attention with tracks released online and then signed with Severance Records, a label linked to Big Loud. Dexter and The Moonrocks released the EP Dexter and the Moonrocks in 2021, followed by Western Space Grunge in 2024, notably propelled by 'Sad in Carolina'. In 2025 followed the EPs Happy to Be Here and Donkey Flats, which confirm a tighter formula between catchy hooks, grunge tension and country inflections. The band's trajectory later broadened with 'Freakin’ Out' in 2026, then '12 Steps' with Treaty Oak Revival. Anchored in the contemporary American rock scene while also circulating on alternative circuits and festivals, Dexter and The Moonrocks advances with a compact, rugged and melodic sound, where saturated textures sit beside a more introspective sensibility.
