Info
The Streets, Mike Skinner’s long-running project, heads back to Birmingham for a hometown date at O2 Academy Birmingham on 6 June 2026. Since the early 2000s, Skinner has mapped UK life with a plainspoken flow, garage and bass-driven beats, and lyrics that read like sharp urban diaries. Original Pirate Material set the tone with dry wit and clipped rhythms; A Grand Don’t Come for Free pushed the narrative further with tracks like Dry Your Eyes, Fit But You Know It and Blinded by the Lights, now part of the UK’s shared songbook.
On stage, Skinner navigates between mic, decks and band with the same conversational ease that made his records stick, switching from confessional asides to dancefloor push. Expect a set that moves through milestones — The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living, Everything Is Borrowed, Computers and Blues — while folding in the more recent The Darker the Shadow the Brighter the Light. It’s the mix that built The Streets’ identity: UK rap, garage and electronica filtered through everyday scenes, punchy hooks and a writer’s eye for detail, delivered where it all started.
