Chase & Status

Formed in London in 2003 by Saul Milton and Will Kennard, Chase & Status began within the British drum and bass scene before broadening their palette to include jungle, dubstep, hip-hop and, at times, UK garage and big beat. The duo came to prominence in the mid-2000s with a string of club singles and then framed their output around several albums: More than Alot (2008), No More Idols (2011), Brand New Machine (2013), Tribe (2017), RTRN II JUNGLE (2019), What Came Before (2022) and 2 Ruff, Vol. 1 (2023). Their sound pairs fast, heavy rhythms and pronounced bass with borrowings from British urban sonics and with arrangements closer to song or rap. That crossover between clubs, radio and major stages is evident in collaborations with Plan B, Kano, Delilah, Liam Bailey, Sub Focus, Craig David and Stormzy, as well as in their production work for other artists. At the same time Chase & Status developed a live setup featuring a drummer, performing at leading UK and European festivals, while continuing to operate the label MTA Records.
