Kasabian
Born in Leicester, England, in the late 1990s, Kasabian emerged as part of the British rock wave by blending indie rock, electronic rock and psychedelic touches drawn from both Britpop and rave culture. The band formed around singer Tom Meighan, guitarist and principal songwriter Sergio Pizzorno, and bassist Chris Edwards, soon joined by other musicians, and took its name from Linda Kasabian, a figure associated with the Manson case. Kasabian released a self-titled debut in 2004, marked by repetitive rhythms and prominent bass lines, followed by Empire in 2006 and West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum in 2009, where work on atmospheres and arrangements intensified. Velociraptor! (2011) and 48:13 (2014) continued this fusion of rock riffs, electronic textures and arena-ready choruses, which Kasabian developed on club circuits and at major festivals across the UK and Europe. After For Crying Out Loud in 2017, Tom Meighan’s departure in 2020 led Sergio Pizzorno to assume lead vocal duties and steer Kasabian toward a more direct approach while retaining a taste for hypnotic structures, reflected in The Alchemist’s Euphoria (2022).
