On 21 May 2026 at La Station – Gare des Mines in Paris, Garage MU Festival — Day 2 brings together Dame Area, MAQUINA. and Île de Garde for a dive into post‑punk, industrial and spoken‑word territories.
Dame Area arrives from Barcelona with its Catalan‑Italian duo and an energy honed for the stage. Dry percussion, EBM pulses and minimalist synth pads structure a taut sound, somewhere between industrial electronics and post‑punk. One hears echoes of Einstürzende Neubauten and Esplendor Geométrico, with polyrhythms that recall a certain flamenco heritage and an intensity that at times borders on Sonic Youth or Coil. The latest album condenses this physicality — direct and uncompromising.
From Lisbon, MAQUINA. claims a synth‑free approach to dance. Guitar, bass and drums are enough to build an organic flow that leans toward minimal krautrock and industrial techno. After a support tour with A Place To Bury Strangers and a signing to Fuzz Club, the trio comes to present PRATA, a record where punk tension and psychedelic detours intertwine, conceived as much for the body as for volume.
Opening the bill, Île de Garde sets a spoken‑word format with keyboards and drums, where the voice cuts across square motifs. The texts and atmospheres nod to Diamanda Galás and the dark poetry of Sylvia Plath. Signed to Born Bad, the trio employs a sober economy of means to better foreground the spoken word and the pulse.
