Opus Kink
Born in Brighton in 2017, Opus Kink develops a British post‑punk that quickly spills beyond its boundaries by incorporating elements of jazz, country, folk, cabaret and no wave, with a central role for brass and a voice with dry phrasing, sometimes close to declamation. Initially active on the UK independent live scene and later on European circuits, Opus Kink built its identity through concerts, several EPs and singles, before releasing the album My Eyes, Brother! in 2023. The band crafts songs that can shift from fairly raw punk tension to more danceable rhythms, music‑hall‑inspired motifs or slower, darker passages, without being limited to the 1980s post‑punk revival. Opus Kink's lyrics often address violence, unease, the absurd or power relations, with an ironic, off‑kilter tone. This writing, combined with an expanded line‑up and changing arrangements, gives Opus Kink an unstable, angular sound strongly marked by the collective.
