Mother's Cake
Formed in 2008 in the Austrian Tyrol around Yves Krismer, Benedikt Trenkwalder and Jan Haußels, Mother’s Cake develops psychedelic and progressive rock, infused with funk rock, hard rock and space rock accents, with a pronounced taste for dynamic changes, tight grooves and tracks with a strong live dimension. Initially active on the local stages in Innsbruck and western Austria, the band made a mark at the turn of the 2010s in several Austrian and European showcases, before releasing a first EP in 2010 and then the album Creation’s Finest in 2012. The band’s trajectory then takes shape on the road, between tours in Europe and Australia, festival appearances and opening slots for rock groups with varied aesthetics, accompanying the expansion of its audience beyond Austria. The discography grows with Love the Filth in 2015, No Rhyme No Reason in 2017, the live album Live at Bergisel in 2018, then Cyberfunk! in 2020, where Mother’s Cake pushes further a nerve-wracking blend of psychedelic rock, danceable rhythms and electric tension. Initially a trio, Mother’s Cake permanently integrated Raphael Neikes, already present on stage, while Alex Kerbl joined the band on drums in 2024 after the departure of Jan Haußels. This new phase accompanies the release of Ultrabliss in 2024.
