SLIFT

Emerging from Toulouse's rock scene, SLIFT has explored a dense psychedelic world since the mid-2010s, drawing on space rock, garage impulses and kraut and stoner references. The trio—brothers Jean and Rémi Fossat alongside drummer Canek Flores—first appeared on the French independent scene with the EP Space Is The Key in 2017, notable for short formats and an energy close to garage rock. SLIFT then refined a more narrative, cosmic approach on the album La Planète Inexplorée (2018), where compositions lengthened and moved toward a space rock with sci‑fi atmospheres. The release of UMMON in 2020 confirmed this shift toward extended pieces featuring heavy riffs, repetitive rhythms and stretched instrumental climates, combining incantatory vocals with saturated textures. With ILION in 2024, released on Sub Pop, SLIFT continues to work on structures that are at once massive and melodic, between contemporary psychedelic rock and metal touches. The band defends these records live with continuous, immersive sets, gradually placing SLIFT on ever more varied stages in France and internationally.
