Makeshift Art Bar

Hailing from Belfast, Makeshift Art Bar crafts tense, angular guitar music where a post-punk drive intersects with art‑rock instincts and a more experimental approach to rhythm and structure. The band has made a mark on the indie circuit with songs built on jagged riffs, tight pulses and vocals that alternate between abrupt phrasing and more poetic imagery. After live appearances across the UK and Europe, Makeshift Art Bar captured this aesthetic on a debut EP, Lackluster Writing Makes Fundamental Reading, released in 2025. This four‑track short format neatly sums up the band's language — between rock tension, controlled dissonance and a keen sense of contrast. Makeshift Art Bar has also been booked for festivals such as Borderline, Ypsigrock and All Together Now, opened for Chalk in the UK and appeared in a session for BBC Radio 6.
