Lala Lala
Led by musician Lillie West, Lala Lala develops between London, where she was born, Los Angeles, where she grew up, and Chicago, whose independent scene shaped her earliest shows in DIY spaces. Under the name Lala Lala, Lillie West works in an indie rock/indie pop vein tinged with post‑punk: songs built around guitar, relatively measured tempos, and a lo‑fi aesthetic. The debut album "Sleepyhead" was released in 2016, laying the foundations for a sound that mixes clear melodies with rougher textures. In 2018, "The Lamb", issued on the Hardly Art label, pushed West’s songwriting toward more nuanced forms, with particular attention to vocal harmonies and song dynamics. With "I Want The Door to Open" (2021), Lala Lala introduced more electronic textures and vocal interplay while retaining introspective lyrics. The project is rooted in a touring network across North America and Europe and occasionally opens up to collaborations, notably with Yoni Wolf of Why? on the track "Siren 042" in 2019, placing Lala Lala in ongoing dialogue with the international indie scene.
